It seems like the "epic build-up" in songs seems to be the current trend. And I love it.

Mstrkrft wowed Australian audiences with their last tour and are set to do so with their next tour. They are set to do a bunch of Australian dates later in the year including Splendor in the Grass.

I'm not tempted to say much about these guys coz they are certainly no strangers to anyone.

I do suggest you check out their myspace and suss out their other new tracks and remixes.

And now for the track you've been waiting for since you saw this clip on our blog (with tounges wagging) a few months ago.

And in a tradition started by Marky Mark with his video Vuvuvu post, I present you a crazy video of Boys Noize playing live @ Coachella. He is playing a track by Proxy (that has that "epic build up") called Raven. Les Petits Pilous have also done a remix of this track. It will be some time before you get your hands on this mp3...

Pretty fucking insane aye?? HA!

Much Love,

Mindgutter

P.S. We're playing @ We Love Noize!!! Contact me on myspace for tix.

The "epic buildup" has been a trend for years and years - it's just that the hipster crowd keeps taking on more of the musical tendencies of house and electro and calling it their own. I don't want to sound brutal about it, but as a journalist for URB for nearly four years and a DJ for eight...and a native of Chicago, it's been pretty easy to watch the appropriation of house elements happen pretty quickly over the past couple of years.

Take artists like MSTRKRFT, LA Riots, Vandalism, Lazaro Casanova...etc. These are artists that toe the line between electro house and a hipster mentality, making the Pabst drinking, skinny jeans wearing crowd feel a little more comfortable in the Crobars of the world.

If you take a listen to older disco house, especially on French labels like Crydamore, a lot of us might find that new trends aren't so new after all.
